Foreign sales climbed 91% in volume and 83% in revenue year-on-year in July. Asia was one of the leading importers.

Sugar exports from Brazil nearly doubled year-on-year in July, as per numbers from the Brazilian Ministry of Economy’s Secretariat of Foreign Trade (Secex). Exports were up 83% in revenue and 91% in volume.

Last July saw 3.4 million tons of sugar and molasses shipped from Brazil, up from 1.8 million tons in July 2019. Revenue climbed to USD 964.3 million in July of this year from USD 528 million in July 2019.

The average price dropped from USD 289.9 in July 2019 to USD 276.5 last month, which explains why revenue did not widen as much as shipped amount did.

The biggest destinations for Brazilian sugar included Asia, Oceania and Africa. Average daily revenue was up 131% in sales to Asia, 3,867% to Oceania and 86.7% to Africa.
